Career & Industry-Based Certifications

Lighthouse Public Schools is now offering multiple pathways for students to receive an industry-based certification upon completion of high school. With these programs, once a student graduates, they are ready to go straight into the workforce. The curriculum and programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content aligned with the relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for employment into a career profession.

Currently, LPS offers two career pathways (see details below).

Option 1: Certified Nursing Assistant

Option 2: Educational Aide I Certification

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, and basic medical tasks while maintaining a safe and clean environment.

LPS partners with Savant Achievement Center (SAC) to provide the required training for the CNA program. This partnership allows students to receiving the education and technical training necessary at not cost to the student or the family. The programs costs that are covered by LPS includes:

Tuition & Fees to Savant Achievement Center
Book Rental Fees
3 Sets of Royal Blue Scrubs
1 pair of Solid White Tennis Shoes
Cost of the Written and Skills CNA State Assessments for Certification

The program offers an English speaking and Spanish speaking language track.

Requirements for Students Interested in the Program:

17 years of age
Classified as a Senior (12th Grade Student)
Anticipated Graduation in the Current Academic Year
Remain Continuously Enrolled at LPS
Picture ID/School ID
Social Security Card
Must Have Recent COVID Vaccinations (proof required)
Recommendation from LPS based on good attendance and commitment to finish the program
Pass a Background Check
Complete CPR and First Aid Training with Certificate

Once fully certified, the certification is issued to the student and the licensure is fully transferable to any state.

Educational Aide I Certification

An Educational Aide I performs routine tasks under the direction of a certified teacher, assisting with clerical operations, supervising students, preparing instructional materials, and duplicating materials, all while releasing the teacher from routine duties.

LPS offers the following services at no cost to the student to meet the Educational Aide I requirements

Coursework to consist of Human Growth and Development, Child Development, Child Guidance, and Instructional Practices
Pay the cost of the required fingerprinting and background check
Complete observation and internship hours in classrooms

Requirements for Students Interested in the Program:

Continuously enrolled with LPS.
Graduation Endorsement of Education and Training
Pass a fingerprint background check
Picture ID
Complete High School Graduation Requirements
