Lighthouse Public Schools is a tuition-free charter school in San Antonio, Texas β home of the Seahawks. We opened in August 2003, and have degreed, certified, and highly qualified administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals. All students are encouraged to excel in their academic studies through a variety of teaching methods. All students and staff are treated with dignity and respect in a safe environment. Lighthouse Public Schools is also proud to be a 2024-2025 Texas Purple Star Designated District.
Monday, February 17, 2025, LPS will observe a school holiday for President's Day. School offices will be closed all day on Monday. School will resume on regular schedule on Tuesday, February 18th.
The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is a test that measures how well students learning English are progressing. It checks their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Required by federal law, TELPAS is given to students in kindergarten through 12th grade to track their English development and ensure they get the support they need.
LPS has developed a partnership with United Way here in San Antonio to provide resources and supports for military connected families. These resources and contact information has been updated on our website. LPS values our service members and families. We strive to be the premier school of choice for all families in San Antonio.
We have gone through several weeks with cold and winter weather along with a special dress day for school choice week. However, beginning Monday, February 2, 2025, normal dress code will be enforced each day. Failure to meet dress code will result in students not being permitted to remain at school. The school does not provide alternate clothing if their attend school out of dress code. Key Things: 1. Monday - Thursday: Must wear Maroon Polo shirt with appropriate pants. This means NO jeans/denim of any color and no school spirt shirts (only on Fridays). MUST be the maroon Polo shirt. No sweat pants or athletic/yoga pants. 2. Closed toe-shoes. No slides, flip flops, corc's, sandals, slip on shoes, house-shoes, etc. Tennis shoes are what is recommended each day.
Dress code rules have not changed. These are the same expectations since the first day of the school year. Compliance is required each day at school.

LPS policy regarding student cell phones has changed to phones are not to be used during school. We will be implementing the Yondr Pouch system this school year. Linked below is a news story about another Texas high school that implemented Yondr and the success they had as a result of the change. There has been a slight adjustment in the 2024-2025 School Calendar. Friday, December 20, 2024, is an Additional Day School Year (ADSY) day for grades PK-5 only. Also on this date, school will have an early release at 12:00 PM (Noon). There will be no lunch service and no after school care on Friday, December 20, 2024. Make sure you have appropriate transportation for all students beginning at noon.

Amazing resources have been made available through TexQuest. You can get digital books, magazines, for all grades levels PK-12. This resources is paid by the district and is available to all LPS families 24/7. Looking for a family activity, this is a great resource to find one. Lighthouse Public Schools has launch the Lighthouse Public Schools app which is now available to download on iOSβ’, Androidβ’, and Windowsβ’ devices. The school app gives parents, students, faculty, and staff the ability to stay connected and informed about whatβs happening at Lighthouse Public Schools. Administrators can now easily distribute unified messages from the app for both emergency text alerts and day-to-day school communication.
