LPS has a significant amount of teachers who qualify for Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Designation through TEA as a Recognized, Exemplary, or Master Teacher. This means that teachers rate high on their performance evaluations & out-pace other teachers in student performance growth and overall student improvement. Way to Go!!!!! So proud of all our designees.
In Texas all schools are rated on how effective the district is in managing the financial resources. This system is called the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas or FIRST. This is truly outstanding for LPS.
All students must be in dress full dress code each day to remain at school. Students are checked daily for meeting dress code at ALL grade levels. Students not in dress code must contact care givers in order to meet dress code to go to class and be counted as present and in attendance. School begins at 8:00 AM Any arrival after 8 am is considered late and students are tardy. Multiple tardies can result in additional absences and potential withdrawal. Students are missing precious instructional time for each minute they are late to school and will fall behind in those classes when they are persistently late and/or absent. Excessive tardies and absences can result in administrative withdrawal from school.
Ms. Whitaker’s 7th grade class recently finished “Red Scarf Girl: A Memoir of the Cultural Revolution.” The book focuses on the experiences of a middle school student growing up in 1960s Communist China. Today, the students had their final book talk over “Red Scarf Girl,” and thanks to @goldenwoksatx, they got to enjoy some delicious Chinese food, too! In order to earn this treat, each student was required to complete a 5 paragraph argumentative essay over the book. Lo mein, egg rolls and cheese puffs made accomplishing this task even more satisfying!🥡✍️ A big thank you to Golden Wok for their generous donation! And a shoutout to our students for their hard work in this unit! #Lighthouse #ELAR #Reading #Writing #Education #GoldenWok
We wanted to do a little something to say thank you to our drivers. These parents and guardians work hard to get their students here on time, so that learning can take place.
Mrs. Martinez’s 4th graders are diving into a new Amplify Education unit: “The Art of Invention!” 🧪 ⚙️💡 In addition to learning about famous figures like Thomas Edison and George Washington Carver, these seahawks are being introduced to the challenges that inventors face. With critical thinking and collaboration, they are finding solutions to overcome these setbacks. Can’t wait to see what these little innovators will be working on this week! See you tomorrow, Seahawks!
Just a reminder for our LPS families in regards to dropping off students to school in the morning do not park in the driving lanes. If you are going to walk your students up to the gate, please find a parking space. This will ensure that all families can get through the drive lines in a safe and efficient manner. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
Absences can add up! The good news is that parents and family members can have a big influence in a student's attendance. Let your student know why it's important to go to school everyday. Check on your student's attendance regularly and be sure absences are not piling up.
The art students at LPS are doing amazing work while learning about perspective. Way to go students. You have the best Art Teacher around. Thank you Mr. Henry.
