We wanted to take a moment to update you on some changes Lighthouse will be implementing in our high school classes to help your child succeed and achieve their academic goals. The intervention will be called “Set Sail 4 STAAR Success”.

As you know, the STAAR assessment is approaching in just a few weeks, and in order to better prepare your child and ensure they are ready to excel on this test, we have decided to adjust the structure of our classes. Starting the week of April 3, 2023, we will be focusing more heavily on test preparation, including review of key concepts and targeted practice exercises. This will be done by implementing an adjusted block schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On these dates normal dress code will be relaxed and the students will be provided with donuts on Monday’s and ice cream treats on Friday’s for those that participate fully and master identified standards.

I wanted to assure you that this change will not negatively impact the overall quality of our class or our ability to cover the necessary material. Rather, it will provide your child with the additional support and resources they need to perform at their best on this important assessment.

I encourage you to talk with your child about this change and remind them of the importance of staying focused and engaged in class. If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
