Description: AMERICAN FLAG is a collaborative art piece created by the students of Lighthouse Public Schools ( Pre-K - 8th grade). Veterans Day was the driving force behind AMERICAN FLAG. According to Army regulation 670-1: The American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observers right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward. Jasper Johns, an American painter, sculptor and printmaker whose work is associated with abstract expressionism, Neo Dada, and pop art, was also a major driving force behind AMERICAN FLAG.
