Greetings, LPS Family! My name is Ms. Schellhorn, and I am excited to be joining the Lighthouse Public Schools community. This is my first year at LPS, and I will be teaching high school English Language Arts and Reading to students in grades 9 through 12. I bring nearly 20 years of experience in education and am passionate about supporting student growth in both academic and personal development.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville and a Master’s in Education from Schreiner University. I am certified in English Language Arts and Reading (8–12), History (8–12), Special Education (EC–12), and Generalist Grades (4–8).

As an educator, I believe every student has the potential to learn, thrive, and succeed. My goal is to cultivate a classroom environment where students can freely express themselves and receive academic, social, and emotional support. My approach centers on building strong relationships through open communication, clear expectations, and collaborative problem-solving.

In addition to my teaching role, I will be serving as the Lead Teacher at the high school. I practice Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Restorative Practices with fidelity to create a welcoming and supportive school environment.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, camping, and traveling. These activities help me stay grounded and bring fresh perspective into my work with students.

Instructora de Artes del Lenguaje y Lectura en Inglés – Preparatoria

¡Saludos familia de LPS! Mi nombre es la Sra. Schellhorn, y estoy muy emocionada de unirme a la comunidad de Lighthouse Public Schools. Este es mi primer año en LPS, y estaré enseñando Artes del Lenguaje y Lectura en Inglés a estudiantes de preparatoria, desde noveno hasta duodécimo grado. Cuento con casi 20 años de experiencia en educación y me apasiona apoyar el crecimiento académico y personal de mis estudiantes.

Obtuve una Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Universidad de Texas en Brownsville y una Maestría en Educación de Schreiner University. Estoy certificada para enseñar Artes del Lenguaje y Lectura en Inglés (grados 8–12), Historia (grados 8–12), Educación Especial (EC–12) y materias Generales para los grados 4–8.

Como educadora, creo firmemente que cada estudiante tiene el potencial de aprender, crecer y tener éxito. Mi objetivo es cultivar un ambiente de aula donde los estudiantes se sientan seguros para expresarse y reciban apoyo académico, social y emocional. Mi enfoque se basa en construir relaciones sólidas a través de la comunicación abierta, expectativas claras y la resolución colaborativa de problemas.

Además de mi rol como maestra, también estaré desempeñando el cargo de Maestra Líder en la preparatoria. Practico el Aprendizaje Socioemocional (SEL, por sus siglas en inglés) y las Prácticas Restaurativas con compromiso, para crear un ambiente escolar acogedor y de apoyo.

Fuera de la escuela, disfruto pasar tiempo con mi familia, hacer caminatas, acampar y viajar. Estas actividades me ayudan a mantenerme centrada y a traer nuevas perspectivas a mi trabajo con los estudiantes.
