Mrs. Grace Gallegos

Hello! 

My name is Grace Gallegos (formerly, Ms. Whitaker :), and I am the 6-8th grade English Language Arts (ELAR) teacher at Lighthouse Middle School. This is my third year teaching at LPS, and I’m so excited to be back! I studied Secondary Education with an emphasis in English and a minor in Spanish at the University of Missouri. I am certified to teach in both Missouri and Texas. I previously worked for two years for Columbia Public Schools, first as an EL (English Learner) Instructional Aide and later as an EL Teacher. Since being at LPS, I have earned the distinction of a "Recognized" teacher through the Teacher Incentive Allotment for, "successfully meeting the rigorous and high standards of the State of Texas in
the honorable profession of public educator" (TIA). 

I am passionate about the power of literacy. I can promise you that, within my class, your student will read and write every day! I use Amplify Texas as the foundation for my instruction, but this year I’m looking forward to introducing a variety of novels for group and independent reading, too! 

When I’m not at school, I enjoy traveling, running, painting, listening to music, and spending time with my favorite people: my husband, friends and family.
