A Message to Lighthouse Public Schools Families
Lighthouse Public Schools is aware of a social media trend involving “The Cat in the Hat” that has recently gained attention in school communities across the country.
Many of the images and videos associated with this trend appear to be fabricated or AI-generated. However, some individuals have begun creating and sharing posts that reference specific schools, communities, and even students.
At this time, LPS is not aware of a credible threat directed toward Lighthouse Public Schools.
We want our families to know that LPS takes any statement, message, image, or social media post that could reasonably be interpreted as a threat seriously, even when it originates from an online trend or is intended as a joke or prank.
We ask parents and guardians to please talk with their children about responsible social media use. Students should not create, repost, tag others in, or share content that threatens or appears to threaten a school, student, staff member, or community. What may seem like a joke online can create real fear, disrupt a school community, and may result in serious school disciplinary or legal consequences.
If your child sees concerning content, please encourage them to stop, save the information if possible, and report it to a trusted adult or school administrator rather than reposting or continuing to circulate it.
